1 year later

well we celebrated our 1 year anniversary of hurricane katrina here on the mississippi coast and alot of stuff was going on.memorial services, regrand opening of beau rivage and tribute to the ones we lost here on the coast.it was a somber event of what we have been through and where we are at today.boy did this year ever go by fast.and so much still left to do here on the mississippi coast.we made not get news coverage like news orleans but at least we got the help that they didn't.

for all of you who feel sorry for new orleans you all have been fooled.their levees broke when caused the flooding and the levee broke not because of the storm, but because the levee was not up to standards and termites were eating away the wood and time has also took away the levee's holding power or so to say.yes new orleans may of suffered some lost, but compare to the mississippi coast and the alabama area we both suffered the worst blunt of the storm.new orleans gets coverage because it is a city everyone knows. well regardless of the news the superdome is open once again and the mardi gras was a big success.and bourbon street is up and running, and they are still the center of the news.I just wished the jounalist and newspaper get their act together and report the news as a whole and not what they want to.I have no love lost over news people at all,how they twist stories to fit them and keeping us informed i shall give them a f- and maybe one day we will have some good ones like we use to have.

movies and television shows.

whatever happen to original ideals-I have noticed the last couple of years there has been alot of remakes at the movie theater theses days.or old tv series they decide to make into movies.miami vice, duke of hazards to name a few.it just not cut it for me.i grew up with the old type series and they putting new faces on the show/movie just doesn't make it worth watching.to me it is an insult to the oldies, maybe if they did a reunion show or made it where they was the kids of the original cast or something.to keep their names that was used in the original showing is also stupid.

at least they can give them different names for the show/movie. maybe i am just old and people my age just don't go to the movies anymore.

i will also give my kudos to the directors, writers for trying to bring them back.
I just wish maybe they will put a different twist to it.it is just not he same as the original.maybe i should try to watch theses show with a different mind set.

it is just hard to.I just hope they don't try to mess up "gone with the wind",or

some of the good old films. some shows were never meant to be remade.just keep doing the anniversary editions and i will be happy with that.

and how about something new for a chance.I think snakes on a plane will be successful for it is one of the few originals that is being made.lets just hope and pray it is so.

nothing new

good afternoon everyone, just another gloomy day here in mississippi, overcast and suppose to rain again.hear the thunder outside, working out in the yard and can't believe how quick the yard gets out of shape, all this rain we have been getting keeps me from working in the yard like I would like to.
hence the yard out of shape, this morning I was able to do some edging, well consider almost a year ago I had no yard.sine hurricane katrina washed it all away and what it didn't wash away the salt water killed it.

just another day and hopefully something exciting will happen today than again i have enjoyed the quiet day so far.well so much for the boring day eh.

see you all later.

snakes and equipment

tomorrow morning I start on my quest to buying 2 75 gallons aquarium with a screen top that i can latch down with clips,i also will have to get water bowls, heat lamps, heat pads,a place for them to hide in,branches for them to climb on,aspen chips for bedding,an UV light for during the day,and i usually buy plastic plants for them to hide in as well.
been looking forward to this for quite a while, the snakes i will get is 2 ball pythons and 1 female Colombian red tail boa.that is what i hoping to get.I won't settle for anything less. but first and foremost is getting their home set up and going so their transaction will be with as much stress free as i get them.stress will kill them,so i want to house up and running and up to the right temperature and everything.i also have to buy thermometers to set the temperature and keep it accurate.I have done all of this before and lost it all to hurricane katrina.

nothing like having to start all over again.hopefully 2 weeks from now i will have me some snakes once again.

religion

why is it everybody feel the need to tell you about their religion.whether its protestant, catholics,Muslims, zen, orthodox,Hinduism,Judaism,Bahia,Taoism,Buddhism,Shinto, shakta, sikhism, paganism and new age.to name just a few.why must their be wars in the name of our gods?

why is it people are ready to defend their religion with a sword,or a knife,or a gun,or even with a tank.

why do people get into heated arguments over which religion is the true one.whatever happen to just sitting down and with a cup of coffee or cola or whatever you drink and just discuss.do we need to bring in religion.

a few years ago there was this thing going around the country called breaking down the walls.I had the chance to attend one of their meetings.it was held at the coliseum and all different Churches attended.it was not about being a catholic,or baptist, pentecostal,or nondenominational,or white, black,Latino,Hispanic,African American,or any thing else for that matters.

it was about Jesus and praising his holy name and loving one another regardless of your skin color or what church you went to.it lasted about a year or so and people were back in the same old rutted about how their church is the only way to get to heaven.if this offends anyone maybe you need to go back and evaluate your life or just pass this post up.

this is just my opinion and you have the option whether to read this or not to read this.
now where was I.you might be asking OK what religion am I promoting or what church am i trying to get you to attend.in fact none of them.Jesus will lead you the way,He will tell you if he wants you at this church or that church.
all I here to do is proclaim the Name of Jesus.
not here to to shove it down your throat or make you believe.that's not my job to get you to believe,I just want to share Jesus with you on a personal level.

this is not about religion,or a church it is just about a man from Galilee who came to this world and spread his love to the world.his message of hope, love, and healing and much much more.read your bible,i realize their is so many different types of versions out there.i can't help you there,i like the king James version, the new king James version and the new international version.

but that what I like, anyway ,search the scriptures and search for the truth and seek it.you will find it.it will come to those who seek it.but let us get away from religion and who church is the better church.must we fight one another under the name of God.and stop arguing about whose church is the right church and can't we just join hands and pray together as one.I don't care what your race is or your color is or your creed.can't we all just join together as brothers and sisters.i realize i am just talking in the wind.I really have no doubt that anyone will read this for I am no scholar or some journalist or some famous person.I am just me who you see in the store or on the streets or in a restaurant or i am the one that fixed your food or the person who delivered it to your table,or maybe the one you almost ran down when i was crossing the street and you refused to stop at that red light.

maybe i am the one you just cut off in traffic cause you were in a hurry and didn't care that i had kids in my car and caused me to swerve and run off the road and my kids were hurt.

maybe you are the one who came into my store and shoplifted something you really didn't need just to see if you could get away with it.

just maybe i was the one who was hungry and asked you for some food,or maybe even a drink of water and you just laughed at me and told me to get lost.

maybe i am one of the many who lost their home to hurricane Katrina and you sat back and said oh well that is what you get for living on the coast.

i pray that wherever you live and if you lose someone or something that someone doesn't say well if they only didn't drink and drive,or only if they didn't smoked,or only if they didn't live in tornado alley or only they didn't live on a fault line or they lived where there is snow and your roof caved in because of the weight of the snow.
oh well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

10 years later

reading the most recent news about the horrible death of jonbenet ramsey.a john mark karr confessed he killed her and it was an accident.but it happened while he was sexually assaulting her.in the mean time his ex-wife Lara karr say she was with him in Alabama at the time jonbenet was killed.gee boulder, colorado to Alabama to Thailand.

now who is telling the truth.him or his ex.wife-and of course patsy Ramsey did not live to see this.I can't believe it took 10 years to maybe actually find someone who killed this poor little girl.and i wonder how much longer we have to wait before we really know if this is actually the killer or just someone who just wants his 15 minutes of fame.i really doubt we will ever really know who killed this little girl and after 10 years most people are saying jonbenet who?

is there hope for other crimes like this to be solved or will it also take as long to find a killer.I really do pray that whoever did this will eventually have to face someone for this crime whether here or the hereafter.

now how about the murder of Natalee Holloway-will we see the crime solved in our lifetime-will it also take 10 years, will the parents live to see the killers bought to justics, will the body of ms.holloway ever be discovered.is she dead or is she alive?

some think she was sold to traders to sell her as a sex slave.i realize that is a horrible thing to say,but needless to say theses things happens everyday, even here in the USA.my heart goes out to theses families as well as my prayers.hopefully justice will prevail in the end.but i won't hold my breath.

Stories About Drinking & Driving

I hurried into the local department store to grab some last minute Christmas gifts. I looked at all the people and grumbled to myself. I would be in here forever and I just had so much to do. Christmas was beginning to become such a drag. I kinda wished that I could just sleep through Christmas. But I hurried the best I could through all the people to the toy department. Once again I kind of mumbled to myself at the prices of all these toys, and wondered if the grandkids would even play with them. I found myself in the doll aisle. Out of the corner of my eye I saw a little boy about five years old holding a lovely doll. He kept touching her hair and he held her so gently. I could not seem to help myself. I just kept looking over at the little boy and wondered who the doll was for. I watched him turn to a woman and he called his aunt by name and said, "Are you sure I don't have enough money?" She replied a bit impatiently, "You know that you don't have enough money for it." The aunt told the little boy not to go anywhere that she had to go get some other things and would be back in a few minutes. And then she left the aisle. The boy continued to hold the doll. After a bit I asked the boy who the doll was for. He said, "It is the doll my sister wanted so badly for Christmas. She just knew that Santa would bring it." I told him that maybe Santa was going to bring it. He said "No Santa can't go where my sister is...I have to give the doll to my Mamma to take to her." I asked him where his sister was. He looked at me with the saddest eyes and said "She has gone to be with Jesus. My Daddy says that Mama is going to have to go to be with her. My heart nearly stopped beating. Then the boy looked at me again and said, "I told my Daddy to tell Mama not to go yet. I told him to tell her to wait till I got back from the store." Then he asked me if I wanted to see his picture. I told him I would love to. He pulled out some pictures he'd had taken at the front of the store. He said "I want my Mamma to take this with her so she don't ever forget me. I love my Mama so very much and I wish she did not have to leave me. But Daddy says she will need to be with my sister." I saw that the little boy had lowered his head and had grown so very quiet. While he was not looking I reached into my purse and pulled out a handful of bills. I asked the little boy, "Shall we count that money one more time?" He grew excited and said "Yes, I just know it has to be enough".So I slipped my money in with his and we began to count it. Of course it was plenty for the doll. He softly said, "Thank you Jesus, for giving me enough money." Then the boy said, "I just asked Jesus to give me enough money to buy this doll so Mama can take it with her to give to my sister. And he heard my prayer. I wanted to ask him for enough to buy my Mama a white rose, but I didn't ask him, but he gave me enough to buy the doll and a rose for my Mama. "She loves white roses so very, very much," In a few minutes the aunt came back and I wheeled my cart away. I could not keep from thinking about the little boy as I finished my shopping in a totally different spirit than when I had started. And I kept remembering a story I had seen in the newspaper several days earlier about a drunk driver hitting a car and killing a little girl and the Mother was in serious condition. The family was deciding on whether to remove the life support. Now surely this little boy did not belong with that story. Two days later read in the paper where the family had disconnected the life support and the young woman had died. I could not forget the little boy and just kept wondering if the two were somehow connected. Later that day, I could not help myself and I went out and bought some white roses and took them to the funeral home where the young woman was. There she was holding a lovely white rose, the beautiful doll, and the picture of the little boy in the store. I left there in tears, my life changed forever. The love that little boy had for his little sister and his mother was overwhelming. And in a split second a drunk driver had ripped the life of that little boy to pieces.

Close to the door he paused to stand

Close to the door he paused to stand,
As he took his class ring off her hand.
All who were watching did not speak,
As a silent tear ran down his cheek.
And through his mind the memories ran,
Of the moments they walked and laughed in the sand,
But now her eyes were so terrible cold,
For he would never again have her to hold.
They watched in silence as he bent near,
And whispered the words..."I LOVE YOU" in her ear.
He touched her face and started to cry,
As he put on his ring and wanted to die.
And just then the wind began to blow,As they lowered her casket into the snow.
This is what happens to man alive,
When friends let friends drink and drive.

I Went to a Party Mom

"I went to a party, Mom"I went to a party, and remembered what you said.
You told me not to drink, Mom
so I had a sprite instead.I felt proud of myself, the way you said I would, that I didn't drink and drive, though some friends said I should.
I made a healthy choice, and your advice to me was right
as the party finally ended, and the kids drove out of sight.
I got into my car, sure to get home in one piece,I never knew what was coming, Mom
something I expected least.
Now I'm lying on the pavement,
And I hear the policeman say,"The kid that caused this wreck was
drunk,"Mom, His voice seems far away.
My own blood's all around me,as I try hard not to cry.
I can hear the paramedic say,"This girl is going to die."I'm sure the guy had no idea, while he was flying high,
because he chose to drink and drive, now I would have to die.
So why do people do it, Mom
Knowing that it ruins lives?
And now the pain is cutting me,like a hundred stabbing knives.
Tell sister not to be afraid, Mom
tell daddy to be brave, and when I go to heaven,
put "Daddy's Girl" on my grave.
Someone should have taught him, that its wrong to drink and drive.
Maybe if his parents had,I'd still be alive. My breath is getting shorter, MomI'm getting really scared. These are my final moments, and I'm so unprepared.I wish that you could hold me Mom,as I lie here and die.I wish that I could say I love you, MomSo I love you and good-bye.

Letter from Kathie Drinkwater (nee Wilson) 4/17/05:
Hello everyone,I just read with interest the poem "I went to a party". I would just like to let you know that I am the author of this poem, and I wrote it in an English class in the mid 1980's at Solway College in New Zealand. The teacher at the time was rather taken with it, and I never thought much about it again until I heard it come over the radio a few years ago, and then started to circulate the internet. I have been unable to contact the teacher concerned to ask her how this all came about. A few of the terms in it have been changed to suit the American way of speech compared to how it was originally written. Nice to see it still going strong all these years later! :-)Kind regards,Kathie Drinkwater (nee Wilson)New Zealand

Funny-The Worst

THE WORST HIJACKINGWe shall never know the identity of the man who in 1976 made the most unsuccessful hijack attempt ever. On a flight across America, he rose from his seat, drew gun and took the stewardess hostage. "Take me to Detroit," he demanded. "We're already going to Detroit," she replied. "Oh ... good," he said, and sat down again.

THE WORST BANK ROBBERYIn August 1975 three men were on their way in to rob the Royal Bank of Scotland at Rothesay, when they got stuck in the revolving doors. They had to be helped free by the staff and, after thanking everyone, sheepishly left the building. A few minutes later they returned and announced their intention of robbing the bank, but none of the staff believed them. When they demanded 5,000 pounds in cash, the head cashier laughed at them, convinced that it was a practical joke. Then one of the men jumped over the counter, but fell to the floor clutching his ankle. The other two tried to make their getaway, but got trapped in the revolving doors again.

THE WORST ANIMAL RESCUEDuring the firemen's strike of1978, the British Army had taken over emergency fire fighting and on 14 January they were called out by an elderly lady in South London to retrieve her cat which had become trapped up a tree. They arrived with impressive haste and soon discharged their duty. So grateful was the lady that she invited them all in for tea. Driving off later, with fond farewells completed, they ran over the cat and killed it!!

THE WORST INSURANCE This is the best lawyer story of the year, decade, and probably the century. A Charlotte, NC, lawyer purchased a box of very rare andexpensive cigars,: then insured them against fire among other things. Within a month having smoked his entire stockpile of these great cigars and without yet having made even his first premium payment on the policy, the lawyer filed a claim against the insurance company. In his claim, the lawyer stated the cigars were lost "in a series of small fires." The insurance company refused to pay, citing the obvious reason: that the man had consumed the cigars in the normal fashion. The lawyer sued .. and won! In delivering the ruling, the judge agreed with the insurance company that the claim was frivolous. The Judge stated, nevertheless, that the lawyerheld a policy from the company in which it had warranted that the cigars were insurable and also guaranteed that it would insure them against fire, without defining what is considered to be unaccep table fire, and was obligated to pay the claim. Rather than endure lengthy and costly appeal process, the insurance company accepted the ruling and paid $15,000 to the lawyer for his loss of the rare cigars lost in the "fires."

NOW FOR THE BEST PART...After the lawyer cashed the check, the insurance company had him arrested on 24 counts of ARSON!!!! With his own insurance claim and testimony from the previous case being used against him, the lawyer was convicted of intentionally burning his insured property and was sentenced to 24 months in jail and a $24,000 fine. This is a true story and was the 1st place winner in the recent Criminal Lawyers Award Contest.

Wrong email address

Lesson to be learned from typing the wrong email address

A Minneapolis couple decided to go to Florida to thaw out during a particularly icy winter. They planned to stay at the same hotel where they spent their honeymoon 20 years earlier. Because of hectic schedules, it was difficult to coordinate their travel plans. So, the husband left Minnesota and flew to Florida on Thursday, with his wife flying down the following day. The husband checked into the hotel. There was a computer in his room, so he decided to send an email to his wife. However, he accidentally left out one letter in her email address, and without realizing his error, sent the email.

Meanwhile, somewhere in Houston, a widow had just returned home from her husband's funeral. He was a minister who was called home to glory following a heart attack. The widow decided to check her email expecting messages from relatives and friends. After reading the first message, she screamed and fainted. The widow's son rushed into the room, found his mother on the floor, and saw the computer screen which read:

To: My loving wife
Subject: I've arrived Date: April 6, 2006
I know you're surprised to hear from me. They have computers here now and you are allowed to send emails to your loved ones. I've just arrived and have been checked in. I see that everything has been prepared for your arrival tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing you then. Hope your journey is as uneventful as mine was.
P.S. sure is freaking hot down here!!!!!

Where to bury mother-in-law

Heres a joke emailed to me just this morning:

A man, his wife, and his mother-in-law went on vacation to Jerusalem. While they were there the mother-in-law passed away.
The undertaker told them, You can have her shipped home for £5,000, or you can bury her here in the Holy Land for £150.
The man thought about it and told the undertaker that he would just have her shipped home.
The undertaker asked, Why would you spend £5,000 to ship your mother-in-law home, when it would be wonderful to be buried here and you would spend only £150.
The man replied, A long time ago a man died here, was buried here, and three days later He rose from the deadI just cant take that chance.

The Parrot

Wandas dishwasher quit working so she called a repairman.
Since she had to go to work the next day, she told the repairman, Ill leave the key under the mat. Fix the dishwasher, leave the bill on the counter, and Ill mail you a check.
Oh, by the way dont worry about my bulldog. He wont bother you. But, whatever you do, do NOT, under ANY circumstances, talk to my parrot! I REPEAT, DO NOT TALK TO MY PARROT!!!
When the repairman arrived at Wandas apartment the following day, he discovered the biggest, meanest looking bulldog he has ever seen. But, just as she had said, the dog just lay there on the carpet watching the repairman go about his work.
The parrot, however, drove him nuts the whole time with his incessant yelling, cursing and name calling. Finally the repairman couldnt contain himself any longer and yelled, Shut up, you stupid, ugly bird!
To which the parrot replied, Get him, Spike!

The philosophy of Charles Schultz

The philosophy of Charles Schultz
The following is the philosophy of Charles Schultz, the creator of the Peanuts comic strip.
You dont have to actually answer the questions. Just read the e-mail straight through and youll get the point.
1. Name the five wealthiest people in the world.2. Name the last five Heisman trophy winners.3. Name the last five winners of the Miss America contest.4. Name ten people who have won the Nobel or Pulitzer Prize.5. Name the last half dozen Academy Award winners for best actor and actress.6. Name the last decades worth of World Series winners.
How did you do?
The point is, none of us remember the headliners of yesterday. These are no second-rate achievers. They are the best in their fields. But the applause dies. Awards tarnish. Achievements are forgotten. Accolades and certificates are buried with their owners.
Heres another quiz. See how you do on this one:
1. List a few teachers who aided your journey through school.2. Name three friends who have helped you through a difficult time.3. Name five people who have taught you something worthwhile.4. Think of a few people who have made you feel appreciated and special.5. Think of five people you enjoy spending time with.6. Name half a dozen heroes whose stories have inspired you.
Easier?
The lesson: The people who make a difference in your life are not the ones with the most credentials, the most money, or the most awards. They are the ones that care.

rain

it has been so wet here in Mississippi.it has been driving me crazy. on wednesday we recieved 4 to 5 inches of rain.yes everything was getting flooded. all I could think of was a flashback of hurricane katrina.we just got our house finish and i was watching this water slowly rising.all i could do was watch it,but thank God it did not rise very high, even though the streets and my yard was flooded.
I pray one day when it rains like that that I don't keep thinking about hurricane katriana.yes i guess you can say i still have nightmares.and i have a feeling i always will untill the day i die. oh well live goes on.

hurricane katrina

hurricane katrina to all of us who had the bad luck of being in and surviving all have stories.each person suffered some personal disaster of some kind.

some lost loved ones, homes, personal property and many others.for some the nightmares has only begun and people like me has had nothing but nightmares.yes i am thankful i lost no one.but i lost my sanity, some memories that can never be replaced.all i hear is it is all replaceable and people lives are not. I agree but to the personal property i will never regain any of it.it does not exist anymore, can't run to the local or nearest store to replace it. I only have whats left of my life which i am thankful for.yes i have my wife and kids.my kids suffered as well-they still go to the same school but alot of their friends has moved away.my daughter graduated and it was the worst time for her.what a way to start a senior year right after a major hurricane that kept them out of school for several weeks.but graduated she did.her life is still upside down.

I can't undo what hurricane katrina did,i have lived through volcanos, typhoons, twisters, earthquakes and other hurricanes.but this is the one that left the biggest scar.one that will never completely heal.so for people who get mad with the tee shirts that say I survived hurricane katrina-untill you walk a mile in their shoes stop complaining.if i could find one my size i would wear it proudly cause i did survive hurricane katrina.

MIA

so sorry for my very long absences.i was recovering from hurricane katrina as well as the rest of the mississippi coast.we recieved 12 feet of water in our house.so our house was completed gutted.so we had to get money and supplies and slowly started to rebuilt.well from august 29,2005 to november 15,2005 we were bounced from home to home until fema got us a trailor.4 of us fit in a small tiny enclosure.at the mean time we was working on our 1 year old home.(our house was 1 years old when it was destroyed)last week(july 26,2006)our house is completely finished including furniture.of course we moved back in our house back in april.

i am still new to this blogging stuff and being absent has not helped at all.hopefully i can get back into the groove of things soon enough.
